Isla Trapski is a New Zealander by birth, of Scots and Polish descent. Isla is a Waikato photographer based in Hamilton who specialises in freelance photography and illustration, with more than twenty years of experience in both film and digital media. Coming from a Waikato farming background, along with her work experiences, Isla has an insight and appreciation of many of Waikato's delightful rural and coastal regions.
A qualified medical photographer, Isla has developed a strong technical base in photography. This work has encompassed imaging for clinical, diagnostic and research purposes, teaching and visual evidence. Imaging was also used for promotional and public relations publications within the health sector. Expertise was developed in ophthalmic imaging.
Freelance assignments completed have encompassed a wide range of imaging areas. These have been for advertising, editorial, corporate, social functions, weddings, family groups and portraits prepared for digital or publication platforms.
On the more creative side, Isla has a strong background in line illustration and cartoon work, frequently used in advertising and for publications. Initially employed as a medical illustrator, Isla has a longstanding ability, with anatomical knowledge, to create technical medical illustrations.
